Nation Junior, or “NJ” as it is commonly referred to, is a bi-weekly magazine produced by The Nation newspaper, aimed at teenagers and young adults. It contains articles about current affairs and important issues for this particular age group. As part of the “World Class Schools” curriculum that we implement at Bangpakok Wittayakom, each student studying as part of the “Gifted” program will receive a copy of the magazine. The students will then be given a term long assignment, in which they must read the magazine, find information and answer both short answer and essay style questions based on the articles contained inside. This assignment will be presented to the instructor at the end of the term and count as points towards the students GPA.
So what do you, the reader, get from the magazine? As well as being an enjoyable read, the student can acquire new and useful vocabulary, practice their English language skills and receive information about important and relevant issues.
We hope that you enjoy reading the magazine and completing the assignment. Remember, if you have any queries or need help with the assignment, don’t be afraid to ask your teacher.
