Imports to Greece surged 18.2 percent to EUR 3.59 billion in July 2016 compared to EUR 3.04 billion a year earlier, driven by a 27.2 percent growth in purchases from EU countries while those from third countries went up 9 percent. Considering the first seven months of the year, the value of imports was recorded at EUR 25.21 billion compared to EUR 25.34 billion in the same period of 2015. Imports in Greece averaged 4020.64 EUR Million from 2001 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 6219.50 EUR Million in June of 2008 and a record low of 1919 EUR Million in August of 2001.
