At regular intervals between cleaning, such articles as suits, jackets, trousers and slacks should be given a careful brushing, all over. This will dislodge surface soil particles, prevent them from penetrating deeper into the fabric and make subsequent dry cleaning or laundering easier. Those articles of clothing that need infrequent cleaning should be aired regularly, if possible in direct sunlight. Preferably, turn the article inside out before hanging out. Sunlight removes slight musty odours, and sterilises to a considerable extant. Before putting the articles back into the wardrobe, give them a light brushing to arrange the surface texture to best advantage.
