To prepare the fruit extracts, three 5 g samples of arils from each
replicate were extracted twice with 10 mL of 80% acetone
containing 0.2% formic acid using a homogenizer (Heidolph Silent
Crusher M Homogeniser P/N-595-06000-00, Germany) for 2 min
and then centrifuged at 20,000 g for 20 min at 4 C. The
supernatants were combined to make a
final volume of 25 mL
for analysis, stored at 20 C, and then used for analysis of total
phenolics, total anthocyanins and antioxidant activity
