Dear BAP-certified processing plant:
To assist in the consistent interpretation of Clause 5.2.10 of the BAP SEAFOOD PROCESSING STANDARD (ISSUE 4, Rev 2, December 2015), concerning food safety HACCP compliance at product reception, GAA has issued Supplementary Guidance 2016-01. This Supplementary Guidance addresses the need for a well-documented testing program for residues of aquaculture drugs. It is fully consistent with previous Interpretation Guidance and draws attention to the roles of risk assessment and historical analysis (basic components of a valid HACCP plan) in the design of a testing program.
In addition, Guidance SPS 2016-02 has been issued for Annex 5 of the BAP SEAFOOD PROCESSING STANDARD (ISSUE 4 – all versions – April, August, and December 2015) to clarify the specific sampling and testing requirements described in the Annex. There is an important clarification concerning the circumstances under which third-party sampling and testing is required.
