On the opposite point of view, making gambling industry legal could cause a lot of problems. Firstly,
it goes against the teaching of Buddhism which is, conventionally, the national religion of Thailand.
According to the teaching of Buddhism, gambling is one of the six allurements that lead to ruin,
which Buddhists should avoid. Buddhism has been the main pillar supporting moral of Thai people
for hundreds of years. Supporting ideas that go against Buddhism at large scale might tremble the
stability of the social. Secondly, people of Thailand might not be ready for legal gambling industry.
They might not be able to control themselves when gambling and lose excessive amount of money.
This leads to economic problems in families which can further cause more problems such as family
violence, divorce, bankrupt, etc., and these problems can leads to larger-scale social problems like
chain reaction. Finally, as gambling is a great temptation, if it becomes legal and easy to access, it
might distract people from working properly. When some people do not working properly, a lot of
things they are responsible for will not work properly too. The decline of people’s responsibility not
only is a personal problem, but also further leads to economic and social problems of the country
