What better way to kick off the winter holidays than gathering the world's most popular musicians in one place? That's exactly what KIIS FM thought when they held their Los Angeles stop at the annual Jingle Ball Friday night (Dec. 5).
The lineup included One Direction, Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and many more for what proved to be an energetic -- and loud -- night.
5 Seconds of Summer took the stage first to deafening screams. The Australian band kicked off the show with fan favorite "Hey Everybody!" and set the tone for the rest of the night. The boys then played "Amnesia" from their first album, followed by "Jet Black Heart" and "She's Kinda Hot."

"It's been a great year for breakout artists," Conrad Sewell, one of the performers, told Billboard. Sewell couldn't be more right, just look at the lineup. Stars like Charlie Puth, Hailee Steinfeld, Shawn Mendes and Sewell himself show how quickly newcomers have taken to the top.
Puth took to the piano and showed his vocal chops while Steinfeld lit up the stage with her confidence. Mendes charmed the crowd and even brought out Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello to perform their new single "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
Perhaps the best breakout act performance was DNCE. After a triumphant performance of their hits like "Cake By the Ocean" and "Toothbrush," the band had Queen's "We Are the Champions" play while they ran around holding a trophy.
"You give all that you have in the short amount of time," Tove Lo said -- and that's exactly what she did. With her characteristic fashion and enigmatic stage presence, she performed "Talking Bodies" to a dancing audience.
One Direction's walk on stage eliciting its fans trademark squeals but this time, they were extra loud. There was an excitement in the air as the band acknowledged this was its last U.S. performance for the foreseeable future. And it was "Perfect." The most notable feature was their throwback. The boys performed the track that started it all, "What Makes You Beautiful," to highlight the bitter sweetness of their set.

Selena Gomez was the true star of the night. The "Me & The Rhythm" singer had everyone on their feet and swaying with a sexy confidence. Several male back up dancers flanked Gomez with flirtatious moves as she seductively cakewalked around the stage. She started the set in a black coat with a black taxi drivers hat with "Same Old Love" but by "Good For You," Gomez was in a black one piece and fishnet tights. Following 1D's step, Gomez threw it back with "Love You Like a Love Song." The light show dimmed as she wished the crowd a Merry Christmas.
"I think The Weeknd has done a lot this year, in terms of pop music," Cabello told Billboard. "He brought subject matters in lyrics that were never talked about before or used to be censored ... it's honest lyrics with pop music." The crowd wholeheartedly agreed with Cabello's analysis. They went wild as the singer performed some of his biggest hits like "Can't Feel My Face," "In The Night" and "The Hills."
After more than three hours of performances came to a close, the audience clearly wanted more. Those in heels didn't even seem bothered by how long they had been on their feet. Everyone had danced like they were at the clubs and sang like it was a karaoke bar. It was certainly a night to remember.
