My home town seems like to be a typical traditional village in the North of Vietnam: there aren’t many changes in people’s life style and landscape. In the same time, it also keeps up the modernization.
It takes nearly an hour by car from the city centre to the West; visitors will certainly be exited with the peaceful environment while entering my small village. One large rice field in the left hand side of the main road gives you a wonderful view to very far away. Green color of plants would calm you down so that you are sensible enough to listen to the wind melody and breathe in pure air. In the right hand side are a series of houses located a long the road. Similar to many other villages, living near the road is helpful for transportation. In the other side of houses range is one branches of Red River which provides water to the field during crops.
Farmers here are likely happier than citizens: friendly and most have sense of humor.
Presently, machines replace man-power and people, consequently, spends less time for farm works than before. Therefore, in the remaining time of year, they make handicrafts from bamboo and rattan such as: flower vases, tables and chairs. Those products are exporting to Europe and sold inland as well. My village is well known for skillful artisans and for sophisticated hand made furniture all over the country.
Actually, farmers in my village have all facilities and technology that the city have. If transport becomes more convenient, I will live there and keep working in the Capital. However, one thing I worry about is the education system here could not be comparative with the one in city. Besides, children are lack of mechanism to study hard as they have already “job security” in the future. I suppose tourism development in my home town may help pupils get more desire on learning from worldwide.
