Grid Connected Power Plants. The power plants which operate in synchronism with the grid are called central, grid connected power plants. Such power plants feed the energy into the central grid. Conventional power plants with high MW ratings (100 MW to 2000 MW) are called central Grid Connected Power plants.
Stand Alone (Independent/Isolated) Power Plants
Stand Alone Power Plants are not connected with the grid and they operate independently. Such plants are located away from main grid and distribution system. Renewable Energy Power plants with Diesel Generator hybrid and with suitable energy storage are most preferred stand alone plants.
