Normally, more than one secondary extraction method is employed in the same stope area because of the varied nature of ore geometry. For instance, after the primary extraction phase complete in a given stope, a back pass may be taken on the primary extraction horizon while an undercut pass is being taken or planned. Another possible combination is a bottom pass being taken on an undercut level while an overcut level is being planned or taken. Several different combinations are possible for any given ore geometry, and no set combination works everywhere.
