Banharn dies at 83
Former prime minister Banharn Silpa-archa died at Siriraj Hospital on Saturday. He was 83.
He died at 4.42am after being admitted to the hospital on Thursday, Somsak Prisnananthakul, a key Chartthaipattana Party member, confirmed to traffic radio Jor Sor 100.
The veteran politician was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after he had anasthma attack. His condition was critical and he remained in the intensive care unituntil he died.
Mr Banharn was one of Thailand's best known and most influential politicians. He was prime minister in 1995-6. He was an 11-time Suphan Buri MP and the party chiefadvisor.
