The concentrations of TNF-a, IL-1b, and
IL-6 released by SNP were significantly decreased by garlic extract
treatment. Compared with HRGE, FRGE significantly decreased IL-6
release stimulated by LPS (n = 3, p < 0.05). This results is similar to
the effect observed with the L-NAME treatment in the cells stimulated
by LPS (p < 0.05, Fig. 2D). However, the LPS-induced increase
in the TNF-a concentration was not affected by L-NAME (500 lM)
treatment. This result indicates that the mechanism of LPS-induced
TNF-a induction is independent of NO production.
