Conclusions
Peer reviewed and government documents were used to collate data
about the epidemiology of TB in the Province of Quebec. Overall, the incidence
of TB is much higher among immigrants than the general population.
The rates among the total population as well as among immigrants
were found to be decreasing over time. The Inuit suffer a much higher
rate than either immigrants or the general population, but this fluctuates
from year to year with no significant trend being observed. Several factors
including HIV, poverty, and vitamin D deficiency were investigated,
as well as the potential economic burden of the disease.
