4.1. Points to be considered
Although the Cameriere's and Willems methods had shown
near accurate estimation of real ages of the individuals, still it is
advisable to reinforce recommendations on the need to develop
population specific standards.
The application of Acharya's Indian specific formulas had given
overestimation of real age (similar to previous studies 17, 18), which
in turn raised the question of its application for age estimation in
real forensic context. In his study, the author opined about inadequacy
in his sample size and suggested that larger reference
sample with relatively well distributed cases across all age age
groups may further enhance the age estimation outcomes.6 So, as
recommended3 in future endeavors the authors must set standards
for the population tested and the method itself should be of sound
design.
