Adolescents need to assess what
their competency and personal goals
are—what they currently do well, and do well, and in which areas they are
willing to strive for success. Those with
teenage children or who work with
adolescents can encourage them to test
their interests. Parents can help them
to find at least one skill that they are
good at and can master, or encourage
involvement in multiple groups or activities
within school, religious settings,
and the community.
