Effects of socio-demographic and family factors
The Single Predictor Models in Table 1 show that all
socio-demographic background variables and family factors
analyzed here had significant effects in the expected directions
except family involvement. As a result, family involvement
was excluded from all subsequent analysis.
Among the significant predictors, eligibility for free lunch
and family bonding had different effects on the log hazard
of initiation at different developmental periods from age 15 to age 21, whereas the remaining predictors had constant
effects on the log hazard of initiation across time.
