1. Victorian bird cages, garden urns and statuary found at flea markets or antiques stores make perfect knickknacks to place on shelves, mantels or niches.
2. Arrange traditional garden furniture like a wooden bench, Chinese garden stool or wicker chair by a window.
3. Place a miniature water fountain on an end table or coffee table.
4. Hang sheer drapes with a leaf or floral pattern from the ceiling all the way to the floor.
5. Think of your walls like an expanse of sky, and mimic the color scheme to play up the furniture and accessories. Choose a solid shade for the wall and dot the "sky" with colorful pillows and an area rug over a dark wooden floor.
6. Incorporate stone features around the fireplace, or embellish one wall with glazed river rock.
7. Combine varying degrees of texture found in nature. Try smooth silk or cotton on a tabletop mixed with rough corduroy fabric on a couch that might be reminiscent of bark. Then, toss a throw blanket that has fringe, frayed like the torn edges of a leaf.
8. Keep a stack of nature photography books or outdoor travel guides as coffee-table accents.
Garden Bedroom
9. Flower-patterned curtains, duvets and upholstery add comfortable splashes of garden style to an intimate bedroom. Be sure the walls are a solid color so you don't feel overwhelmed by pattern.
10. Large vases with fresh, dried or silk flowers touch up dead spaces in corners, on a side table or on top of an armoire.
11. Paint, stamp or glue floral imagery onto walls or furniture accents, then embellish with seeds and beads using a glue gun.
12. In the master bath, pick translucent glass tile to simulate the colors of water reflecting in a pond.
13. Re-create the tropics by incorporating vivid, spicy colors with pillows.
14. Create a collection of graphic images of your favorite flower, herb or other outdoor plant and arrange them over a dresser or bed.
15. Display an idea bulletin board where you tack on swatches of fabrics, seed packets, paint chips and patterns that can serve as design inspiration and a garden-inspired accent.
