Determination of the nitrogen content in certain complex cereal products (muesli bars and cereal breakfast)
using Dumas combustion method, however, can represent
an analytical challenge due to the small sample size
required for the analysis. Therefore, it is essential that
uniform and representative samples are analyzed. Assessing the performance of Dumas combustion method has
demonstrated possible difficulties in obtaining a desired
homogeneity for this type of samples during routine laboratory analyzes. Relative standard deviation and
homogeneity factor values are showing that the Dumas
combustion method may be less suitable for analysis of
such samples compared to the Kjeldahl method.
