Let us compare the standard deviations between the pre-test and the post-test in Table 3-4. It is easy to find that the
standard deviation in the pre-test is nearly the same as that in the post-test. Furthermore, the average score after the
experiment is much higher than that before the experiment. It indicates that a large number of students are attracted
by the Grammar Translation Method. On the other hand, Z = 9.44 >1.96. It is illustrated by the data that teaching
grammar through the Grammar Translation Method is much more effective than through the Communicative
Approach, and the students’ interests can lead to a much better effect.
