While at times they may advance the agenda of larger social actors and at other times
partner with larger social actors to advance their own agenda, they are independent
political actors in their own right who have significant impacts on the political landscape.
As smaller actors that operate in the space between larger actors, they make their impact
known by navigating the space between larger political actors and leveraging their
position between political actors to advance their agenda. Autonomous political networks
may be characterised by a variety of degrees of formality or informality. However, the
autonomous political network examined in this article is of the more formalised variety.
