A 19 year old migrant worker from Myanmar was arrested after CCTV camera footage showed him breaking into donation boxes at Wat Suan Dok. The footage showed a young man between the ages of 16 – 20 breaking into the donation boxes at Wat Suan Dok at 4 a.m. on October 15, 2013.
On October 17 Phuping Police arrested Sai Wan, age 19 on Huay Kaew Road near the Phuping police station after a reviewing the CCTV tapes at Wat Suan Dok. The man was arrested with 20 baht in his pocket and the same long sleeve shirt he was wearing when he broke into the donation boxes.
Sai Wan confessed to police that he was a legal migrant worker but had lost his job and was unable to find further work. He broke into the donation box on October 15 and stole around 2,000 baht by the time the police arrested him two days later he had spent all but 20 baht.
