Histopathology
At the end of the experiment, all the goats were
sedated with xylazine (Rompun; Bayer, Sa˜o Paulo, SP,
Brazil) and subsequently euthanized by intravenous
administration of 10% KCl solution and exsanguination.
Immediately after death, tissues from the pancreas,
thyroid gland, liver, kidney, lungs, heart, spleen, and the
whole central nervous system, were collected, fixed and
stored in 10% buffered formalin for histopathological
examination. Paraffin-embedded sections were stained
with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)
