Immunomodulation
The gut microbiota contribute to gut immunomodulation
in tandem with both the innate and adaptive
immune systems. The components and the cell types
from the immune system that participate in the
immunomodulatory process includes the gut associated
lymphoid tissues (GALT), effector and regulatory T
cells, IgA producing B (plasma) cells, Group 3 innate
lymphoid cells, and, resident macrophages and dendritic
cells in the lamina propria
