The findings from the 'Green tea' experiment revealed insights into how
students use PEDs. The problems the subjects encountered revealed a lack of
reading skills and dictionary-using skills. The subjects lacked strategies in tackling
the reading task. Some did not perform any reading strategies, e.g. looking
at the title, skimming, or reading the main ideas, guessing words from context.
As a consequence, the lack of reading strategies had led the subjects to rely
heavily on searching for equivalent meanings from the PEDs. The subjects'
look-up behaviours, however, were found to be partial. Some subjects were not
