The gensets were
installed on isolation mounts to reduce their noise levels.
Absorptive material was required in all manned
compartments to reduce the reverberant noise level.
Absorptive materials provide one of the least expensive
forms of effective treatment. The uptakes were also
acoustically lined to attenuate noise between the engine
room and the on-deck casing exhausts. A noise lock was
provided for access to the machinery space from accommoclations.
Curtain plates or limp mass loaded vinyl was
provided from the top of the joiner bulkhead to the
deckhead to improve cabin-to-cabin privacy, and quiet
fan coil units were installed in each compartment.
Hydraulic lines were attached with rubber lined brackets.
Acoustic louvers on the engine room intakes and high
atte/mation mufflers on the diesel exhausts were used to
reduce the on-deck noise levels.
