Table 7(d) shows the parameters for the total cost of
ownership (TCO) model. This model is adopted from
Hamilton’s [6] model where: T CO = capital cost +
PUE∗lifetime∗avg watt∗($/kWh) where, avg watt =
energy consumed by benchmark ÷ execution time.
PUE is the power usage efficiency of the datacenter. It
measures the amount of total power consumed while
delivering 1 unit of power to the servers. A PUE value of 1.5 implies that for every Watt consumed by the datacenter
servers and networking equipment, 0.5 Watts are consumed
by cooling, power distribution losses etc.
