The project was undertaken for evaluating the feasibility of implementation on such a large scale and its sustainability so that it could be used as a model for the rest of the state and the country. The project reach was universal with more than 80% of mothers form the district counseled on more than one occasion. The project has also been able to create over a 1000 MSG's and 6 resource centers which have been put firmly in place and have been integrated into the state health system. In addition, the project has demonstrated real convergence at village level and heightened motivation of workers to prevent malnutrition and morbidity in infants and young children.
