Mochi is the main ingredient of japanese sweets. If you want to make mochi you should have glutinous rice flour,sugar,salt and water. First bring glutinous rice flour soak into the water for a night. Next bring that to USU and pounding a flour. Finally you can bring this flour to make another sweets such as Daifuku ( mold sticky mochi) , Dango ( sphere grilled mochi with sweet shoyu). Mochi is the main ingredient to make "Osechi ryouri" (mochi in soni soup) for the Japanese New year festival ( Matsu no uchi ) on 1 - 7 January. In new year festival the Japanese are clean their house and make own mochi because the ingredient is easy to find and mochi is easy to make.
