The task of recasting information-processing models into a refurbished graphic from requires a somewhat different approach than that used in figure 11.1. One way this might be attented is shown in Figure 11.2. The first obvious feature of this approach id that a single static diagram is insufficient to illustrate a system that varies in relation to different environmental contexts, different points along a concious-automatic dimension, and different patterns of tacit knowledge. At least two diagrams are needed to suggest how such variables can affect cognitive process. Even more diagrams that picture additions combinations of the variables would be even better. The two diagrams in Figure 11.2 can properly be accompanied by the following kind of explanation in order to clarify the conditions that distinguish incident A from incident B:
