Hopefully, this is the last random doctor's visit I will have to attend during the week. I will be out tomorrow morning and will need to have my classes covered. There isn't anything serious with Savannah, just her one week checkup with the pediatrician to make sure she is doing fine for a one week old baby. Thank you to everyone for helping to cover my classes tomorrow morning.
Period 1: P4 English with T. Patrick
Review the homework in the project 1 Student book on pages 54-55 (Parts 5&7). Make sure all students participate in answering questions and that they all have the correct answers before moving on to the workbook. After they are ready, assign them pages 44-45 in the Project 1 Workbook. They can work together or in groups, but make sure they stay active, engaged, and on task. Review the workbook with them if they finish it in class time. If they don't finish, it's homework. If they all finish in class, no homework.
Period 3: M1 English with T. Adam
The students will begin Unit 6 of their Panorama 2 (Reading) books. They should complete pages 71 and 72 together while having a student centered discussion about new vocabulary and the picture on page 71. After they have all finished and understand the new vocab terms and have an idea of what they are going to read about, have them read page 73 out loud to each other. I usually have each student read a paragraph and then move to the next student in the row. Stop and discuss the material of each paragraph and how the new vocab terms are used. If you mind the time correctly, it should take about the remainder of the period to finish the text. They may try to rush to get it done, but don't let them. Have the students complete page 74 for homework.
Period 4: P6 English with T. David S.
Review the homework in the Project 5 Workbook (Pages 44-45). Please make sure all students have completed the homework and have the correct answers. We typically go over it as a class, and I only count the homework as a participation grade. Please note the students who didn't do it at all, or didn't do most of it. They should have a fundamental grasp of the material, as the homework was just review over what we did in class and I helped them start the homework yesterday. After you finish the homework, they will read "Unusual Hotels" on page 58 in the Project 5 Student Book. Because it is only five paragraphs, pick students at random to read out loud to the class. If you want to pull up the actual hotels on the internet and let them see them on the projector, it really can make this lesson fun. I just google imaged it last year and it worked out really well. We also worked out the price in baht, so you can do some math with them, too. After they finish the reading, they need to complete page 59 and the questions that accompany the text. Parts 2, 3, 4, & 5 are homework if they don't finish it in class time. Parts 4 and 5, they will need to do in their homework notebooks or on a separate sheet of paper because there isn't enough room in the book to write their answers. If they finish, no homework.
I will be back to teach P5 English in the afternoon, so if there are any problems, just let me know when I get here. Thanks again.
