Brown et al. (1987) have examined the effect of the histamine antagonist, Lupitidine, on
thyroid function. Lupitidine caused a dose-dependent increase in thyroidal iodine
incorporation that was apparent after a single dose of the compound; this effect was
reversible after seven days’ dosing. The increased incorporation of 125I into the thyroid
gland was apparently dependent on TSH since both hypophysectomy and pretreatment
with thyroxine markedly reduced thyroidal 125I uptake.
