Despite the reduction of lipids inwhole body, gut, and serum by FPH,
the total lipid concentration in muscle was not affected by dietary FPH
in the present study. Meanwhile, however, with increasing dietary
FPH levels, the neutral lipid in muscle increased but the polar lipid decreased.
This could be partly explained by the effects of FPH on muscle
fatty compositions in the present study, i.e., with increasing dietary
FPH, the concentrations of saturated fatty acids increased while that of
n-3 fatty acids decreased. Nevertheless, up to date little information
was available to explain this alteration of muscle fatty acid profile by
FPH. In addition, the polar lipid was affected by dietary FPH only in
muscle. This may be partly related to the fact that muscle deposits and
utilizes much more polar lipid than other tissues.
