Future outlook of OPF biomass as a carbon source in biochemical industries
Judging from the availability of OPF in large amounts (250 MMT), consistency in supply (available daily during the pruning process), low cost 19.4 $/tonne and high content of carbohydrate (57.6%), not to mention the policies of the zero waste from the palm oil industry and the effort in reducing the carbon footprint per Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by Malaysian government (second largest world palm oil supplier), OPF juice can be considered a potential feedstock for commercial bio-succinic acid production
