1. Connect the amplifier guard shield cable shield. ( Ensure that the signal cable shield is insulated from thechassis ground and the amplifier ground). This step extends the internal amplifier guard shield out along the entire light of the signal cable.
2. Connect the signal cable shield to the low or shielded side of the signal source. This ensures that the amplifier guard and the signal cable shield are kept at the same potential as the low side of the signal source.
3. Connect the signal cable shield to the same ground point as the signal source is grounded. Do not allow the signal cable shield or the signal cables themselves to contact "ground" at any other point. If the signal is not grounded () , ground the signal cable shield as near as possible to the transducer and at only one point
4. Ground the amplifier chassis, the low side of the amplifier output, and the shield of the output cable to the power-hungry ground of the amplifier. This step serves to keep the measurement system ground and the recording or display system ground at the same potential, and also ensures personnel safety.
