Tomey (2009) suggests that Lippitt’s seven phases
and Rogers’ five can be clustered within Lewin’s
three (Box 1). Box 1 also shows how change agents are
motivated to change and affected members of staff
are made aware of the need for change during Lewin’s
unfreezing stage. The problem is identified and,
through collaboration, the best solution is selected.
