Mahiru should have known better than to accept an invitation to bond with the team when those in the background during the all important phone call just wouldn’t stop giggling. But who was he to go against the ever impossible personalities of his growing number of friends?
But there he was, with them with a sincere smile on his face and an earnest look in his eyes as they all bundled into yet again, another karaoke bar while pushing and shoving their way to get to the more cushy seats.
In the end, Kuro and he had been manhandled onto a love seat, while Misono, Lily and Licht had snagged a hold of their own sofa and Lawless was sprawled on his belly, on the floor with Licht’s foot holding him there and Testu and Hugh had a solo seat, with Hugh in Tetsu’s lap.
Mahiru laughed hesitantly, feeling Kuro stretch out beside and on top of him, while watching the zoo like happenings before him and then, the bonding experience began.
After a few songs, a few non-alcoholic drinks (despite a few of them actually trying) and a lot of random chatter, Mahiru was finally able to relax until his heart clenched after Lawless yelled, “it is so boring in here, let’s play truth or dare!”
And the hellions that were meant to be his friends agreed.
For an hour, when somebody wasn’t singing, the rest were playing. So far he had had to admit some rather embarrassing facts about how he bathed, some humiliating facts about why he liked some brands over others and a few mortifying dares that involved– he paused.
There was no way he was remember that.
And then after his turn at a song that left him breathy, hot and with a sheen of sweat over his forehead, he had sat down only to be told by Lily, “ah, Mahiru-! Perfect timing! We dare you to kiss anybody in this room. Now, tell us- who is your favorite?”
He blinked, feeling the heat rush up the back of his neck but rather than refuse, he stared down at the floor. Simply speaking, shouldn’t it be Kuro? He glanced from the corner of his gaze and saw that even Kuro was watching him think and Kuro’s gaze was–
It was something else.
Accidentally, he spurted out, “Misono!”
And could have sworn by the slight shake that Kuro had reacted badly to his choice. But he was too focused on staring up at to where Misono was staring at him with incredulity- they clearly had all been expecting a different answer, so he explained himself.
“You never said where, so simply speaking isn’t it the least embarrassing to kiss Misono briefly on his cheek?” Logically, he couldn’t kiss anybody else because he didn’t know them as well and if he had to, he could admit he didn’t think Kuro would want to be kissed.
Right then however, that kind of felt like it would be a giant lie.
Shaking his head, because surely entertaining the idea that Kuro might want to kiss him was just plain preposterous, Mahiru got up and crossed the room to Misono who was scarlet all over.
It might not have been so bad if not for the curious, hard-edged stare Licht was giving him. Or the crazed giggling Lawless was going through until the wind was forced out of him by a hard kick from Licht. Lily looked far too eager to be seeing this.
At least Tetsu and Hugh were spared from it all, attempting to duet a solo song.
But just before he got down on his knees, and pushed his confidence enough to deliver, a hand grabbed a hold of his shoulder and yanked him back. He almost hit the floor but whether or not he actually did was lost to him.
He barely managed to catch sight of Kuro’s angered eyes before he felt Kuro’s lips so roughly on his own. Spluttering, he reached up and grabbed at Kuro’s hood, quickly getting swept up by the kiss when Kuro’s tongue pushed past his lips and—!?
Mahiru moaned softly, his body grew lax and the length of Kuro’s arm that was holding onto his back tightened around him. Drawn in closer to the heat of Kuro’s embrace, Mahiru was vaguely aware of the other’s reactions from the crash, bang, screams of whatever the hell happened.
