(5) The approach should be empowering.
Many young people have low self esteem and lack confidence
in making decisions for themselves. As a care provider, it is
important to show belief in them and their ability to develop the
skills to become a good parent.
(6) Accessible information that meets both parents’ needs
should be provided.
Information through various aids, such as e-leaflets, DVDs,
and posters should be offered. The young person’s reading ability
should be sensitively ascertained and the necessary support
offered.
