I had to contact our SDS team for this request an it turned out that HMIS seems to be an outdated system in the USA. From their colleague in the USA they received the following comment:
HMIS or Hazard Materials Identification System, was a voluntary classification system used in the US, Canada and some parts of Mexico much like the NFPA. Because they both use Categories 1-4 with 4 being the most severe they are considered to conflict with GHS and must not appear on the SDS and label.
I guess therefore we will not get an assignment for a product from our US SDS team.
