were simulated to demonstrate the variety of flows that are possible
in residential air distribution systems. The inlet axial velocity
was assumed to be uniform with all cross flow components set
to zero. No slip condition was imposed on the inner wall. It has
been found that the standard k–ε produces acceptable results for
pressure distribution in ducts flows [4,5]. The high Reynolds k–ε
model was used for CFD simulation of all the duct leakage geometries.
k and ε were assumed to be 0.0035 and 0.012 respectively.
These were used as the default values [6] as no other experimental
data were available to fine tune these values.
