On an autumn morning, the light was quite bright, but very soft, with cloud cover
acting as a huge softbox. Gry had no need to modify the light at all since the
sand the model was standing on, and the sea in front of her, bounced light on to
her face and coat. The image was printed on to fibre-based llford multigrade paper
and slightly bleached with potassium ferrycyanide. After scanning it into the
computer, Gry balanced the tones further than she could in the darkroom and
split-toned the image using Photoshop software, to give slightly yellowish highlights
and blue-red shadows.
