Since domestic tourism in Malaysia shows an increasing trend of participation among Malaysians (Singh, 2009), it is only logical that developments on basic infrastructure for domestic ecotourism are improved. However, even though it is apparent that there seems to be an upward trend on the domestic tourism scenario in Malaysia, attempts to identifying the domestic ecotourist market are very limited. Although various segmentation techniques have been employed to understand the ecotourists, limited research has proven that segmentation techniques are possible to be replicated at various destinations. Despite the fact that are several studies which have segmented the ecotourists in nature-based parks in Malaysia, as shown in the studies conducted by Hassan, Mohd, Mariapan, and Husin (2009), Musa et al. (2010) and Rashid (2005), only a few studies included segments comprising a mixture of domestic and international tourists as their main thesis .
