Identification of yeast strain
The yeast strain was identified as P. kudriavzevii on the basis of
sequencing the D1/D2 domain of the 26S rRNA gene by the MTCC
and assigned the Accession No. 5493. The P. kudriavzevii strain was
stained with Sudan Black B and compared with that of P. pastoris.
As indicated in Fig. 1, the oleaginous P. kudriavzevii cells show lipid
bodies stained blue with the pink cytoplasmic background (lipids
appearing as dark spots within lighter cytoplasm). Whereas, the
P. pastoris cells are stained completely pink (uniformly stained).
