The fauna is from an im- pure, and now thoroughly decalcified shaly limestone.Rare brachiopods include a small ventral valve showing a spondylium and proba- bly referable to a syntrophiid (Fig.3J) and two different fragmentary orthids including an eoor- thid (Fig.3K) none of which are of much assist- ance in determining palaeogeography.The trilo- bites Encrinurella, Ovalocephalus, an agnostid (Arthrorhachis sp. not figured) and a dikelokephalinid (Hungioides sp.) are associat- ed. The Encrinurella species (Fig.3N) is similar to the type species illustrated by Reed (1906); the genus occurs also in the upper Ordovician Tangtou Formation of the South China plate (Tripp et al., 1989).
