To assess the effects of chitosan on spore germination and
germ tube elongation of B. cinerea and P. expansum, 50L
aliquots of both conidial suspensions at 1×106 sporesmL−1
were plated on Petri dishes (60mm in diameter) with 10mL
PDA, which contained different concentrations (0, 0.01, 0.05,
0.1, 0.5 and 1%) of chitosan, and the Petri dishes incubated at
25 ◦Cfor 12 h. Approximately 200 spores of each pathogen were
measured for germination rate and germ tube length per treatment
within each replicate. Each treatment was replicated three
times and the experiment was repeated twice.
