Door angle
The angle to which the door opens should be approximately 70” or sometimes 90”. An angle of 70” makes the space large enough to enable the passengers to lift their feet in or out and rise, provided there is no protruding pocket on the inside of the door, and makes it possible for them to reach the handles on the door. The space is large enough for a wheelchair or walking aids. A door angle of 90” is needed if an assistant is to help a wheelchair user. The door should be fitted with a mechanism that locks it in the open position, otherwise the door is not suitable as a support.
