Use of the activities by institution type
and religion
Table 3 lists activities for which the hospice nurses
responded ‘always’ or ‘often’ regarding frequency
of use significantly more than the nurses from
the other sites. Religious nurses answered
‘occasionally’ or ‘rarely’ regarding frequency of
use significantly more often than non-religious
nurses for the activities ‘Pray with the individual’
(46.0% vs 22.8%; P>0.0001) and ‘Be available to
listen to individual’s feelings’ (20.5% vs 12.7%;
P=0.007). There were no significant results
regarding frequency for any other subgroups.
