This exhibit features the Pod Duang currency invented during the Sukhothai Period and was in use for more than 600 years until its abandon in the reign of King Rama V of the Rattanakosin Dynasty. The biggest attractions among a complete range of Pod Duang coins from all periods are, “Pod Duang Chor Ram Poey” (trumpet flower coin) and “Pod Duang Thong Kam” (gold coin). The details of the Pod Duang coins production are given through a diorama presentation while the production instruments are on display. The multi-media presentation illustrates trading history during the Ayuthaya Period with replicas of Portugese ships sailing back and forth. To add to the viewing excitement are a giant three dimentional Pod Duang coin on a turntable, Pod Duang jigsaw puzzles welcoming anyone who wishes to try his jigsaw skill, Pod Duang coin weight testing to clarify understanding about the weights and values of Pod Duang and computer games examining knowledge obtained from the exhibit.
