Each level of a single rate wage schedule pertains either to a single position or to Multiple positions. All positions at a particular level are assumed to have the same worth to a school system, and positions at separate levels are assumed to have different worth. Because the worth assigned to a position by a school system determine: the base rate of pay, an employee must change levels/jobs to increase the base rate.
Table 8.1 shows that a single rate wage schedule fails to provide any growth incentive or to reward experience on the job. All employees at the same level receive the same base wage, regardless of their education and experience. Thus, this type o wage structure assumes a similar organizational worth and an equal base rate pay for all job holders at a particular' salary level.
