The average ratio of short-to-long chains (S/L) was found to be 3.9 for the 20 waxy rice starches. The range of S/L ratio for starches from the 13 mutants was 3.43 (WR6) to 4.95 (WR9) and for starches of the 7 named varieties was from 3.23 (TCW70) to 3.97 (TKW5), respectively.
