Hello Co Owners and fellow Residents ,
My name is Grant Smith , my wife and i are renting Condo 607.
I am emailing you all today after having had very little sleep last night for the second time in a week
in the desperate hope that someone has an answer as to how to stop the extremely loud noise that
is coming from the Open air Bar next to the Moda Condo building. 3.30 am this morning and 5 am last week.
We have accepted that bar has a licence to operate and play loud live music until 11.30 pm.
We were unaware of this when we rented the condo but realise we have to live with it.
But it is the drunken after party by a dozen or so Thai locals that follows on from the live music that is unbearable.
If you are on the other side of the building it may no be so bad but from this side , you simply can't sleep.
Shouting out , screaming , squealing , talking and yelling over the loud speaker system to tell each other jokes.
In the many cities and countries i have stayed at , i can't recall a place where this type of behaviour is
allowed to continue. The whole neighbour hood and community of people surrounding this bar suffer.
In most countries you just call the police 10 minutes after the drunken noise starts , and they come and
just shut them down. Do it a second time and they lose their licence to operate the bar.
But not so here in Thailand it appears. I went downstairs at 3 am this morning to talk to our security guy
about it and he just shrugged as if there is nothing that can be done.
The noise was even louder on the ground than the 6th Floor. God know how the residents on lower floors
stand it.
My wife has had enough and is leaving today to spend a week in Phuket with friends.
The whole experience of living in chiangmai is degraded by this situation.
Is there any government agency or police connection that can be called to stop this noise from happening ?
If anyone has any ideas i would love to hear them.
Regards Grant Smith
